This medical office building, designed next to the campus of the College of Mount Saint Joseph, is sited on an assisted living and independent living development. The facility, managed by Group Health Associates, was designed by PFB Architects, Inc. and constructed by the TriHealth Facilities Group. The functional floor plan provides 16 exam rooms, and 5 doctors offices, waiting for 35 patients, as well as support spaces such as reception, check-out cashier, business office, and centralized "bull-pen" nurse station. In an effort to be sensitive to the residential context of the independent living community, the exterior aesthetic of this two-story, 9,500 SF facility is traditionally residential in character. Specific features, such as the corner covered entry, were designed in an effort to provide visual appeal, while clearly indicating the entry doors to elderly patients. The site orientation of the building allows for view of the building from all sides, requiring creative design solutions for typical back-of-house operations. The centralized floor plan is organized around the nurse station, physician charting, and staff bullpen.
